Why does an algorithm know that I performed my fitness exercise incorrectly? How does it detect acts of violence in surveillance videos?
In a live setting combining performance, dance, music, and projection, the performers face machine learning algorithms and their classifications of human movement. The machine’s eye, which judges movement solely based on its nature, detached from context, situation, or environment, does not always make the right decisions. To counteract this, the performance democratizes machine learning processes, allowing multiple algorithms to assess the same moving situations and thereby returning the power of decision to the audience—what, and whether anything at all, was correctly assessed lies in the eye of the beholder.
