about

What would happen to someone if they were surrounded by complete emptiness? Would they dissolve into the void or does this lack of boundaries enable them to bring out the best in them?

"Vacuity" analyzes the emotions resulting from this surreal scenario in which one is trapped inside the abyss. Inspired by the Japanese dance style Butoh, I experimented with several choreographic movements which should convey these sensations of emptiness.

A wave of near-delusional positive emotions creates a feeling of freedom, while also forcing the protagonist to reduce their thoughts and confront themselves. “Loneliness! Aren’t you overpopulated?” (Stanislaw Jerzy Lec)
