About

Lea Karnutsch is a dancer and choreographer and studied contemporary and classical dance at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna. As a dancer, she has worked with choreographers including Nikolaus Adler, Liz King, Katharina Senk and Inge Gappmaier and has had engagements at the Theater an der Wien, Kultursommer Wien and with the Vienna Tourist Board. She has performed her own choreographies at brut Wien, Stadttheater Augsburg, CerModern in Ankara, Q35 in Turin and DOCK 11 in Berlin. In 2019, she received the ‘Austrian Art Award’ with her piece ‘Vacuity’, chaired by Christian Ludwig Attersee. Since the beginning of 2021, she has been developing stage pieces together with musician and media artist Ferdinand Doblhammer as the collective ‘Flip The Coin’, combining dance, music, digital art and installation. With a great fascination for dance studies, she combines dance theory with dance practice in various projects. This has resulted in collaborations with the Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft, the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg, LIMBO Arts Studios (Claudia Jeschke & Andreas Backoefer) and the dance historian Andrea Amort.
